My workers seem to be trying to remove the queen from the testtube. Two are clinging on to her and others are making a fuss. They seem to want to move her out but seem very vicious. They are pheidole pallidula and have done alot of possible nest preparations all over the place so they might be moving her to the rock they may of tried to nest under, I'm not sure. They appear to be attacker her. What's going on!?

Hi Stevant. No, they are not attacking her, it is how they encourage her to move to a new location. I have seen it vary many times with my ants.

Think of what worker termites go through if they ever need to move their queen! I guess your colony was just moving to a better spot.

This is normally fine, when the queen is weighed down she can find it hard to move, they are helping her. They grip her behind the neck with their mandibles and drag/pull her around. If they are in a tube they are probably moving out to find a better home. Can't be sure though, upload a picture of them doing it if you can then I cab see what it looks like. Sirry for bad spelling, hard to type on a phone
