Well off antsore the pheidole cost 34 euro and 17 euro postage so that is too much. However I found formica fusca for 30 euro and 8 postage for a colony of 50 - 150 ants. Would the fusca be able to kill flies (if not flying) or maybe centipedes or crickets? Fuscas tend to be very timid, running instead of fighting. They may not even take dead mealworms.

They don't have a very big stock atm, I would wait for a more aggressive species to come available if I were you. I don't think any of the European species currently stocked there are quite what you're hoping for.

Yeah good point but I think if I start off with a large colony that isn't to hard to keep il be more successful. Ready for something more aggressive.

I shan't get these because the postage cost waaay to much. Im on the hunt again for a species that will kill insects. any ideas? You buy the ants, I will pay the postage.

Where from? I estimate 8 euros from Ants Kalytta (although they have none in stock atm) Also from here: www.world-of-ants.com/en/ants/europe/pheidole-pallidula.htmlNot sure about shipping cost from there and I have never purchased from there either but they have a large stock of ants and some uncommon species too! Link checked by Myrm - Unless you know for a fact, by experience, that this website is genunine, I would either avoid or use at your own risk.

Hello,
I'm not trying to put a damper on things but you said previously that you were thinking about getting rid of 1 or all your colonies in test tube due to small availability of space.
How would you keep these ants when they outgrow their test tube setup?
Thanks,
Animal Bin Lid.
P.S I don't think they would struggle to much with centipedes as I have fed a small centipede to my L.Flavus colony of 100 workers and they had no problem.

How would I keep those that I already have? Well I won't, I plan on getting rid of them. The pheidole that I plan on getting will be given a set up as soon as I have them.

Hmm, looks like a good site, if it's genuine. It even sells Myrmecia! At over 479 Euros though!
