Although if it does kill quickly how could it pass on through generations. Exactly, it couldn't. Any fatal STI would quickly die out.

Stop with this Billy.It is possible to CARRY and infection but not be affected!Ants have infections right?Well how come some of them couldn't be passed sexually?

Exactly, it couldn't. Any fatal STI would quickly die out. Syphillis can be fatal if untreated and allowed to develop into the tertiary stage (can take at least 10 years for that stage to develop), yet it is still a vary real STI that is making the rounds today. Some STI's can be caught and remain dormant in the body and passed on to other generations whilst still dormant. It might "wake" in the person who has just been infected but still remain dormant in the person transmitting the STI.
