Acquiring a reliable supplier of materials and keeping a well stocked store or colonies is a very big challenge. You would need to know people in different parts of the world to get the exotic colonies that people pay big bucks for. I would bet AntStore sells 100s of L. niger colonies in a season.

Do you have a plan on how to catch, raise and store 100 or so queens at once?
I looked into making a store with another Bin Lid on this forum and it really was to much for us to do at the time. It may be different for you but you really need to step back and consider the logistical challenge. Building a website and doing the actual marketting plan should be secondary. They are easier to come up with and implement. You really need to look at how feasible it is for you to do this. Will you be willing to dedicate a hefty chunck of time into promoting and filling out orders? Do you know how to run a business? Example on that is taxes, customer service, product design and refining. If not do you have someone that can help you with these things?
That is really just a little bit at what you need to look at. If you do want any help with anything then I would be willing to try and give you the answer.

From what I can see my advice would be to buy a copy of the ants canada book. Also flavus remember I'm guessing from his comment that billy is going to wait until the nuptual flights giving him all summer to prepare

The AntsCanada book as far as I am aware just focuses on raising ant colonies. Not sure how that would help Billy because he must know how to raise colonies if he wants to start a store. I was just pointing out that it is a lot of work for a bin lid to do this by himself. Flavus

Thankyou for your concern Flavus. Hopefully, I would start small and slow, and grow until it's as much as I can manage, and sustain it there. For instance, the first year I certainly wouldn't collect 100 queens. Probably more like 15-20.

I have some ideas. And I can sell non-unique ones too.
