Actually, I think it's a bit more about making the touch screen more useful. The thing is there is nothing inherently bad about those smaller designs, it's just that watching content or touch-screen typing is just easier on a larger screen. I think tablets like the iPad sort of proved that, and since the Pad craze is still going bonkers, some manufacturers are trying to make largish displays in their phones... Remember, the SIII and the Iphone5 are the first of their family to be in 16:9, if they STARTED that ratio/size they may have been laughed at in ~2007... it's almost like evolution in a way!!

fair enough about that screen ratio
there has been a phone desighnedwhere you type with a holographic enlarged keyboard and also has another enlarged hologram display of the screen aswell so the typing and viewing shouldnt realy have anything to do with it
