I have just found out from my dad (who is covered in bites) that the flies I fed my ants are midges will this harm them? could they get a disease or something?

There's suppose to some midges that were blown from Germany that are infected with a disease that when passed on to animals(via a bite) kills unborn young, it is said it does not affect humans, but there has been stories of it doing.
