I voted cricket they are (in the summer) quite easy to obtain, although I have not tried breeding them yet as I heard they can be cannibalistic I have a book called the ameteur naturalist (by gerld durrel) which has a section about keeping them under cheese nets (the thing you use to keep flies of cheese) and a rotary system with barley. maybe a project for the summer. P.s The best way to catch a cricket is to quickly place a tin over them because their natural instinct is to jump.

OH that's a great idea to catch them chocimosner. I will have to remember that. I was thinking of going to pets at home today to get some crickets or mealworms. I'm not even sure they do them. I think mealworms is the way to go. Just hope my ligniperda like them. :/

Brine shrimo? My fish love them as a treat But when you get your site up and running I might get something from there, shipping shouldnt be too bad as your in the UK too.

I think this is a great idea. I don't know anywhere else selling packages the right size for an ant colony.

It just so happens that I will be able to stock these soon! ;D [...] Have you looked into freeze drying? It'd be easier, I'd imagine, to ship a freeze dried product across borders rather than live insects. That hadn't occurred to be to be honest. I don't know if ants would accept freeze dried insects though. I'll be sure to test it

I think this is a great idea. I don't know anywhere else selling packages the right size for an ant colony. Thanks billy. I am having a little trouble with what price I should sell them for though. Do you have any suggestions for say 15 mealworms...? Brine shrimo? My fish love them as a treat But when you get your site up and running I might get something from there, shipping shouldnt be too bad as your in the UK too. Thanks poortea and yes shipping won't be too harsh seen as I am based in the UK ;D

Just a little tip for fruit flies... you have to make sure NO mites get into the fruit fly food as they will multiply fast!
